About Vickers Ranch

The Vickers family has operated this remote Rocky Mountain ranch since J.W. Vickers homesteaded the property around 1920 when he first purchased the land. J.W. quickly came to value the natural resources of the property and the Lake City area. In 1929 he established Vickers Dude Ranch to accommodate the growing tourist trade. Five generations later, the ranch is known as one of the oldest family businesses in Colorado. It is the destination of multiple generations of guests, many of whom have been bringing kids and grandchildren for as many as fifty years.

The centrally located main ranch house, which was home to three generations of Vickers, now serves as the office, and central operations point for the ranch. A large recreation hall sits next to the ranch house and offers ample space and a full kitcitchen for group parties and special events. We have built more than 20 cabins throughout the years to accomodate families of all sizes. From rustic two-bedroom log cabins to a spacious four-bedroom, two bath modern cabin, you will find accomodations to meet your needs.
