Explore the Mountains by Jeep
Jump in a Jeep and head to the upper ranch for some remote lake fishing, or tour the Alpine Loop to Engineer Pass and beyond for plenty of four-wheelin' fun! Vickers Ranch is located just a couple miles from both the Engineer and Cinamon Pass entries to the Alpine Loop which can take you to Silverton or Ouray via steep and rocky Jeep trails suitable for travel by any novice off-roader.
Opened in 1877 as the Silverton - Lake City Toll Road the jeep trail to Engineer pass takes you to top of the world views at 12,800 feet. Enjoy views of Uncompahgre, Wildhorse Peak, Mount Sneffels and more on your way to Silverton or Ouray.
While some lower parts of the Alpine Loop are accessible by two wheel drive vehicles, the most spectacular reaches require a high clearance four wheel drive vehicle. Consider packing a lunch and visiting the ghost town of Animas Forks for a good dose of mountain mining history. Or stop for a bite in Silverton after traversing Cinamon Pass, then come back over Engineer.
A whole lotta fun can be had in one day, but ask us about weekly rental rates and save! You'll find plenty of mountain roads to explore just cruising around the ranch. Vickers Ranch maintains a fleet of 2-door and 4-door four wheel drive Jeeps so the whole family can enjoy the ride! Call (970) 944-2249 or email us to reserve your Jeep today.
